Let me introduce myself. My name is Mirta Schefini and I am from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I spent my childhood in an area with huge green fields and beautiful homes, many years before this area was completely civilized.
My father and my brother owned a blacksmith shop , much like his father and grandfather had in Italy many years before.
My Mother was a housewife, taking care of all her childern: my older brother and sister , Hilda and Alberto and me, of course!
At home we had big fruit trees, and the grove was one of my favorite places to be. My mother had her own kitchen garden, where we harvested our vegetables. we inherited our love for animals from my father. We kept rabbits, hens (and enjoyed fresh eggs daily), and many more animal. He also ook us to the blacksmith shop to be with the horses).
It all began as a game, I always loved dogs, small ones, bigger ones or any sort of colors. Dad arrived home with some lost puppy and in just few days Mom, afraid of any desease, always found the way to get it lost again.
I met my soul mate in December of 1962; Aroldo was 21 and I was 16 years old.
We were engaged one year later and married in 1968, on the same date we had met.
My three children came soon: Fabian Aroldo in January 1970; , Diego Javier in June 1973 and Ariel Sebastain in December 1974.
My country life began in 1972, when we bought a farm in Cañuelas. When we first moved there, it had one room, a mill, a water pump. We had no paved streets, no electricity . I raised my children there. Step by step we built our small home, then the swimming pool and then the gardens .
Our children grew, and their friend began to visit our home on the weekends. Girlfriends also came, and it was necessary to build a second floor . We had many fruit trees, pines, our vegetable patch, an artificial lagoon, ewes, horses, cows, hens, rabbits, quails; it was a paradise.
The economic crisis that Argentina had made us give up many of the things we loved, but at the same time it helped us survive. I treasure the beautiful memories from those wonderful years. When I look back, I smile remembering the cold winters, the warm springs, the hot summers, the gray autumns...everything flashes in my mind like a story.
In 1990 my friend Alejandro gave me a beautiful Belgian Sheepdogs. Later on I was to find out that she was the smalles and ugliest of the litter. She was my loved INDI , who became the foundation of my breeding. She was also a guard dog at the Villa Devoto Jail.
The Belgian Shepherd breed has many qualities, the most important one is their ability to give. When you are sad, a BS will give you kisses, they are true companion, being always at our feet, constantly wagging their tail. BS give protection, taking care of the family as their flock Seeing a BS with her litter, a dam taking care of her pups is wonderful. There is no feeling better that seeing a dog from your breeding and its offspring following in their steps.
In March 15, 1997 my first granddaughter Iara Belén, was born.

Together with her I got my first SCWT, a bitch imported from Spain called Garay Argentina. In November of that year I got my male Kirru:
In 1999 I had a terrible accident that had me bedridden for three long months. Several dogs had to go to new homes because my family could not take care of them and me. The SFWT bitch went to live with a relative and the male stayed at home. Although both dogs were born in Spain, they went back to well known American breeders. I only bred two SFWT litters. My healt was not good, and I was not able to import new bloodlines to Argentina, so I moved away from the SCWT.
Being a breeder and exhibitor, I wanted now a toy breed, one that I could take to me and love. I wanted a new breed in the country, the more unknown the better. So, I found the Coton de Tulear, really a cotton cocoon, like its name says. I began my search to get a Coton. In mid 1999 Cotobrie Olena arrived from Italy,
at just 7 months old. She became #1 in the country. from watching her in the ring people became very interested in puppies, so I imported Cartonland's Nougattine from France:
In 2000 Magictail's Armando arrived from Finland.
In 2002 Cartoland's Torero arrived from France:
At the end of that year I lost my mother, and I was totally devastated. It meant a great change in my life..
